Not really what I thought it would be.

I thought this blog would be more like a blank page and everyone who wanted could post a story and we could all see the comments made right there next to the posting. But, it's not really working out that way. I can't seem to format this blog in that manner. My intention was to have an open forum or bulletin board like experience so that we could all chime in and rant about years ago rather than having a huge amount of mail in our inbox.

If this isn't working out for everyone, I'm fine with dumping this blog idea. But, I'm also open to making this work. Honestly, I really love getting in touch with you all again after so long. Facebook might be a better tool for this sort of thing if we'd all rather do that. I do like that we have a somewhat closed environment on the internet. Facebook is very open and we couldn't have the privacy that I think we can have here.

I'll keep on trying to find a better solution for this forum and I'm open to suggestions.

Back in the day!

Montery Highlands Elementary School

I found this picture of our school. It's so weird to see it before any of the bungalows were there or the softball back stops. I'd have to say those mid-century modern buildings had a great aesthetic. Too bad all the "temporary" classrooms piled up on the fields and cluttered the look of the main buildings.

Darrin, thanks for starting this fire.

I'm not talking about that fire you started near your house. You know, the one where you nearly burned down the hillside. I'm talking about this fire of conversation that you started among us Monterey Highland Huskies class of 1983?! It's really nice reading all the memoirs of the collective.

I hope this will work as a blog. I want to have an open conversation between us all. My hope is that everyone could post thoughts here and we can all read and remember the good old days. If this doesn't work we could go back to a ton of mail in our inbox.
